Only time will tell with Spock and Uhura. He's already betrothed and I haven't seen where any of the series are consistent with T'pring and Spock. If there is anything between him and Uhura it would still have years to develop.

I don't think a lot of people would have a problem with what Spock said and I think a lot of people would agree. For me, it's an opinion duly noted but just because her floor is his (and others) ceiling, that doesn't mean she doesn't belong where she is right now. She doesn't have to give anyone her space because regardless of desire, everyone did the same thing to get to where they are now.
